Big Kid Nation: the team behind Pokemon Arena 2D

Last checked 2026-10-23. Facts below cite a source.

Big Kid Nation is the name attached to Pokémon Arena 2D. The homepage calls the project “a free fan game by Big Kid Nation” in their own words, then describes real-time arena battles in pixel art, two years in the making, and free to play.

I am not going to invent a studio address. The about block says: “17 years of ups and downs, documented on facebook.com/FabledApps. The dream is finally coming true as a fan game, made by fans for fans. Pokémon Arena 2D is the first one we are showing the world. More are on the way.” It does not say Fabled Apps is a parent company. I will not add that.

What is on the site besides Arena 2D

When I opened the games page I almost treated “play” as the Arena 2D beta. The page is explicit that the December beta is still ahead, and the thing you can start is the Kanto adventure.

What they say about copycats

The homepage says: “Never pay, log in or download anything from anyone else to play it.” A second line says the game is not out until December 2026, and anything asking you to pay, log in, or download Pokémon Arena 2D is not them.

They also say the project is not affiliated with Nintendo, Game Freak, Creatures, or The Pokémon Company, and that it is non-commercial. Sprite art is credited to the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon SpriteCollab under CC BY-NC 4.0.

The Python claim, and the art argument

RetroDodo and Soulsgamer both report that Big Kid Nation says the game is built from scratch in Python. That sentence is not on the five public pages I read, so I am attributing it to those articles, not to a technical post.

RetroDodo also says some social avatars and marketing images look generated, while Big Kid Nation says the in-game footage is not. I did not independently test that claim. There is no press kit.
